January 30, 2014
In collaboration with the London Design Museum’s new exhibition ‘In the Making ’, (January 22 – May 4, 2014), the International New York Times will be offering a four-week pre-paid digital subscription gift card (worth USD 35 or ?20) for free with any in-store purchase at the Design Museum shop.
The gift card grants museum-goers unlimited access to NYTimes.com and NYTimes tablet and smartphone apps. Activating the card is very simple and can be done at any time.
Curated by British designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, ‘In the Making’ captures over twenty objects mid-manufacture, putting the aesthetic of the unfinished center stage. Varying from the ?2 coin to a cricket bat, a surprising range of objects will be exhibited in an unfinished state, celebrating the intriguing beauty of the production process.
The approach behind how things are created has had a profound influence on Mr. Barber and Mr. Osgerby and continually inspires their work: “We have always been fascinated by the making process as it is an integral part of our work. We have curated an exhibition that will provide a platform to capture and reveal a frozen moment in the manufacturing process and unveils an everyday object in its unfinished state. Often the object is as beautiful, if not more so, than the finished product!”
