This excellent article gives a comprehensive overview of the enormous changes happeПing at New York Fashion Week this season.
As the CEO of the CFDA recently pointed out, New York Fashion Week is bigger than just the 60 shows at Lincoln Center. In total, there are almost 350 shows.
A new venue downtown is just one of many changes.
After all, the most shocking news of the season was the announced departure of Мерседес-бенз as title sponsor of the the IMG events. (A baffling move, given that the events are reaching the public via live streams as never before.)
Of course, if this Twitter account (which could be fake) is any judge, it may well be that IMG sees the departure of MB as more of an "acquisition," as a newly rechristened "IMG Fashion Week" would mean a new level of visibility and ownership for the production company behind the soon-to-be-former "MB Fashion Week"’s events.
Wow, that was a confusing sentence.
It basically means maybe the departure of Мерседес-бенз is a good thing for IMG.
Or not. Hey, we’ll see.
Meanwhile, the CFDA has been working to acquire a larger stake in the market by the creation of a new series of menswear shows called "New York Fashion Week: Men."
