More Than 160 Have Fun at Ski for Women and Raise Money for a Good Cause
The 13 th annual Ski for Women held earlier this month was a big success, encouraging more than 160 women and girls to get out skiing and raising more than $18,000.
“The course change and costume contest were a big hit and we мейд a lot more this year off of silent auction thanks to the generosity of community donations!” said Christina Davis, one of the event organizers.
The Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks event was held at Birch Hill Recreation Area on Sunday, April 12. Proceeds of the event go to the Interior Alaska Center for Non-Violent Living (IAC).

Spring Gala Brings Dancing, Silent Auction to Birch Hill
Take off those ski boots, put on your dancing shoes, and kick up your heels! The 8 th Annual Spring Gala is coming to Birch Hill.
The Gala will be held at the Birch Hill Cross-Country Ski Center on Saturday, April 18 from 8 to 11 p.m. Music will be provided by Steve Brown and the Bailers, an acoustic trio, and the floor will be open for dancing. Refreshments will be provided by HooDoo Brewery. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door or from an FXC skier.
A silent auction will be held throughout the eveПing, and a dessert auction will also be held. The silent auction has many items. Some are ski-related, but many are not. All proceeds of the event go to FXC, the junior race-traiПing program of the Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks.
