The Old Shop Apartment
The Old Shop is a ground floor apartment within a Grade 2 listed Georgian town house in the picturesque Cornish fishing village of Mevagissey. Dating back to 1830, this 3 storey property has just been renovated to a high standard from top to bottom. The middle and top floors make a 4 bedroomed holiday cottage to sleep eight people (see Courtyard Cottage listed separately). The apartment converted from the shop on the ground floor (sleeping two / four people) is ideal for those who would prefer to not have to use stairs. The doorways are wide enough for wheelchair access.
Situated 200 metres from the harbour and just 20 metres from the car park, The Old Shop is perfect for couples and families to explore the region with beaches, cliff-top walks and the Lost Gardens of Heligan only minutes away. Perfectly located in the village, the Old Shop is just a short level walk to the restaurants and pubs in the narrow cobbled streets, but far out enough from the hustle and bustle to be quiet at night. The bedroom is at the back of the property and there is a sofabed in the lounge which easily folds down to make a double bed. Double glazing in the shop windows and acoustic door seals bring the property up to modern standards without losing the charm of a property of this age.
The kitchen diner is a mix of old and new, with the old fireplace housing the cooker. The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of utensils, crockery and cutlery. As well as the cooker with double oven, there is also a microwave oven.The fridge has an icebox and there is a washer dryer. The oak table in the diПing area comfortably seats 4 people.
The spacious lounge has a two seater setee and a 3 seater sofa bed that folds down easily to make a comfortable double bed. There is additional storage space for clothes should any of your party choose to use the sofabed. There is an Xbox (with games), DVD player (with over 100 DVD’s) and an iPod docking station. Free Wi-fi plus a 40 inch TV with Freeview and a selection of family games should provide enough entertainment to keep everyone happy in between trips out and about.
The bedroom at the back of the property has a king size bed, wardrobe and chests of drawers. There is a wall mounted 32 inch TV also with freeview.
The wetroom, situated centrally within the apartment, has a shower, toilet and basin. With underfloor heating and a Mira Sportmax shower, this is a modern compact wetroom.
The Lounge, diПing area and bedroom all have Rointe energy efficient electric radiators and electricity is included in the tariff. Bed linen and towels are also provided free of charge. Parking permit for 1 vehicle for the length of your stay is also included at the Sunny Corner car park just 20 metres away. Additional Permits are always freely available (at an extra charge of £30 to £40 depending on season).
Saturday changeover days throughout the year, but we may be able to be flexible with changeover days outside of school holidays. We will also be able to offer short breaks outside of school holidays.

When comparing properties, please note that The Old Shop tariff includes one car park permit and electricity, unlike some other properties. Please also note, we have just completed building work and are currently putting the finishing touches to the property. This is why there are only a couple of photographs of the Old Shop. More will be uploaded in the next few weeks.
