US Embassy Paris NIV Appointment System Change
The Nonimmigrant Visa Section of the US Embassy Paris now requires all temporary visa applicants to fill in Form DS-160 and pay the MRV fee by purchasing a mandat compte PRIOR TO scheduling an appointment at the US Embassy Paris, effective July 29, 2012.
The type of US visa required will depend on the purpose of your travel. If you are a French national and intend to visit the United States for less than 90 days, you may be able to travel without first obtaiПing a US visa if you have registered on-line through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). See “Do I need a visa ?” for more information.
Approval of travel by ESTA is valid only for travelers with passports that meet the US biometric standards for travel under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). To determine whether or not your passport meets these standards, please open the US Embassy Paris gallery. or refer to the following chart (PDF, 128 kb).
With limited exceptions. nonimmigrant visa applicants aged 14 to 79 are required to schedule an appointment for an interview with a US Consular officer. Interviews are by appointment only. The US Embassy Paris does not accept walk-in applications. See visa appointments for more information. US visa applicants must also provide reference numbers for both the Form DS-160 and the mandat compte at the time of scheduling an appointment at the US Embassy Paris.
The US Embassy Paris strongly encourages intending travelers to apply for a US visa well in advance of their proposed journey, and to always refrain from making irrevocable travel plans until the visa has been issued and they are in receipt of their passport and visa.
Note that there are no telephone numbers to contact the US Embassy Paris for either nonimmigrant visas (temporary visas) or immigrant visas (green cards, or permanent residence).
