Art Antiques London closed on Wednesday 19th June after a week that, while better for some than for others, was well attended by royalty, celebrity and academia. The marquee, set in the verdant parkland of Kensington Gardens, provides a great art viewing experience next to The Albert Memorial and the high-end residential areas of west London.
The Fair is well known for its commitment to quality and its strong academic relationships. The Collectors’ Dinner, a longstanding highlight of the fair, and the Haughton’s pioneering lecture programme, ensured that steady streams of museum curators attend the Fair and that sales to museums continue to be strong. Visitors to the Fair also included HRH Princess Eugenie, HRH The Countess of Wessex, who presided over the Charity Preview EveПing on June 12th, members of the Qatari Royal family, Giles Brandreth and Michael Portillo.
The ‘Party in the Park’ on Tuesday 11th June, in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, began with a champagne reception and was followed by dinner in the ‘1851’ restaurant overlooking the Albert Memorial. The eveПing raised over £300,000 for the charity and the money will be used to support vital child health research.
Principal Sponsor of the fair 1stdibs.com hosted an elegant cocktail party in the «1851» restaurant on Monday, June 17th, welcoming a number of dealers, decorators and top journalists to the Fair.
The dates for Art Antiques London 2014 are 12-18 June, with the Private View on Wednesday June 11th.
