The White Company: another ‘maternity’ winner

As we will not initially be offering a knitwear collection, I am very happy to shout about other retailers’ knitwear solutions for pregnancy when I find them. I find knitwear a tricky area when pregnant – I have a large amount of cashmere in my wardrobe but most of it is in the shape of form-fitting, reasonably cropped sweaters which don’t look particularly sharp when worn with a bump and leggings – the look is a bit Humpty Dumpty.

My solution during my last (very cold winter) pregnancy was to buy non-maternity knitwear that covered my bump and my bum, and could be worn post-pregnancy. The White Company excelled in this regard, and this summer I again dabbled in their bump-friendly knitwear in the form of their divine Sparkle V-Neck Sweater, the virtues of which I extolled here. Now, with their early Autumn range in-store and promotional discounts abounding, I couldn’t resist purchasing their Swing Rib Hem Sweater. ?85. I have already worn it twice in two days and suspect it will be an absolute saviour throughout and after my pregnancy.

The sweater looks perfectly nice in the photos, and I bought it because I thought it would be a useful, transitional shape, but in reality it’s stunПing: the fine merino drapes very fluidly over my bump, the feminine fine-rib sleeves balance the volume elsewhere, and it’s the perfect length to cover my bum and therefore be worn with leggings. I suspect it will be fabulous post-partum to cover flab and breast-feeding antics, and it can be layered over a long-sleeved tee once the weather gets colder. My only request – more colours please!!
