London marathon 2015 ballot closes in record time as thousands bid to enter

Still trying to pluck up the courage to enter the London marathon ballot? We’re afraid you’ll have to wait another year, as the 2015 ballot is now closed.
Bids to enter next year’s race opened just after midnight, with thousands flocking to the website to register their interest.
But would-be runners had to be quick off the mark as the ballot shut just nine hours and 50 minutes later – a record for the race.

Those who managed to enter the ballot will now have to wait until October to find out if they were successful, with most people likely to find themselves disappointed.
For those who failed to enter in time there is still hope. You can still qualify with a ‘good for age’ time, while hundreds of charities are offering charity places for next year’s race.
