2014 Race Dates

The following table lists the main races of the BMX calendar (with an extra фокус on the South region) for this season. Below that is a short guide to the rules and requirements for entry to the various types of race. For full information see britishcycling.org.uk and bmxsouth.co.uk

LONDON SERIES

The London Series is a more independent and London focused collection of races that are slightly more accessible than the Regional and National series. A perfect place to have a try at racing or to race a bit more casually.

Races are run for novice and expert classes. To ride expert riders will need a British Cycling race license. First time junior riders can get a race license free through the club. To qualify for the British Champs riders will need to enter 5 regional races of which a max of three can be at novice level.

Entry fees will be £5 novice, £12 expert entry by pre reg or £17 entry on the line. Pre reg will be available on bmxsouth.co.uk prior to the race. The riders top six results count towards the series.

Hackney BMX will be runПing a mini bus to most of the regionals though possibly not Bournemouth and Gosport. Priority on places will be given to pre registered riders.

To qualify for the nationals riders must have points from the previous year. The eligible riders will be contacted.

LONDON YOUTH GAMES

Qualification will be by selection and be based on merit. We are short on girls and the 15-18 year age group so if you know any aspiring riders bring them along to the club

KENT TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS

A fun event based on 6 person teams with not more than two in the same category. Open to all and was a lot of fun last year.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

The top 12 national ranked riders in each category qualify. Hackney BMX has two riders entered this year.

Open to expert riders who have ridden a regional

To most riders this is the climax of the calendar. Riders must ride a minimum of 5 regionals of which up to 3 may be at novice level. It was a great experience for those who took part last year. Camping is highly recommended for the full experience.
